Activity Reports
10-Pin Bowling - Friday 15th Sept
A great social activity for a cold wet Spring afternoon.
Participants: Les+Heather, Randall, Sandra, Zoe+Richard, Kerry+David, Faye+John, Colin, Doug, Marg L, Ilsa, Val+Ian, Pat.
On arrival Les quickly organized us into four teams and decked out with shoes and appropriate weight ball we were ready to begin. A couple of us were pretty rusty not having bowled for 30 or more years, but in spite of this it didn’t take long to get into the swing of things. The pros made it look easy and notched up good scores, while a few bowlers were just happy to avoid gutters and foot faults. Seriously we all had heaps of fun with lots of chatter, laughter and encouraging comments.
With two games completed we debriefed over a cuppa and Heather capably officiated at the presentation ceremony.
John took out the main trophy, (no doubt it will take pride of place in his trophy cabinet) with Faye coming a close second.
Other awards went to Val, something to do with prolific guttering, and Sandra went home with a set of ten pins to practice for next time.
All agreed it was a fun filled afternoon, and pretty good value at $12 for two games.
Many, many thanks to Les and Heather for organizing this event.
A few keen bargain hunters travelled to Traralgon to take advantage of a special discount offer from Kathmandu. It was a great opportunity to purchase equipment and clothing, ultimately some of the gear purchased will be destined for Mont Blanc next year.
Eleven members finished the day with a meal at Mo Mos. It was lovely to have Randall’s wife Janine join in our relaxed social evening.
Thanks again to Heather and Les. Pat W
By the way did you know that a re-usable cup has a higher resource and energy use than a disposable cup, so I would have to use it at least 30 times to reach or break even with a disposable. Besides drinking coffee from a disposable cup just tastes better!
Forthcoming Events

This is a social night for those of you who would like to view this year’s clubs slides, (who like me, may have been chatting too much at the AGM to take proper notice!) plus some slides from previous years.

View the Archibald’s at Geelong
I have looked into ways to get to The Archie’s on the 9th November. It will take a lot longer to go via Sorrento on the ferry and quite pricey. I feel it is better to travel by train, and make use of our oldies vouchers.
Train times: Leave Morwell 8.18am and arrive Southern Cross 10.37am
Catch Geelong train 10.50am arrive Geelong at 11.47am.
5 minutes walk to Archie’s.
Return trip 3.10 or 3.29pm arrive SC 4.11 or 4.31pm. SC 4.58pm arrive Morwell 6.59pm

3 Capes Walk - Tasmania
Many club members have already completed this walk and all agree that the scenery is spectacular and the huts make carrying a tent unnecessary. I would like to do it next year, starting 5th March and would appreciate the company of a few other club members.
I have booked myself on the early boat (11.30am) and the late bus for the return (4pm).
If you book on-line please mention my name so we can be allocated together.
You can contact me on 0400 109 160 to discuss if you are interested.
